Individual and family therapy

Psychotherapy is provided to children, youth and adults. An integrated approach is implemented that includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, family systems and solution focused models. Dr Power uses a collaborative psychotherapy model where the therapist and client work together in a safe environment to address important issues and learn effective coping strategies for anxiety, depression, ADHD, low self-esteem or relationship problems.

Psychological Assessments

Dr Power conducts assessments to gain a better understanding of the student’s academic and emotional needs so that parents and teachers can provide for those needs effectively. Assessments are completed to help understand learning and emotional problems, ADHD, developmental disabilities and gifted screening.

Ages 6 - 18 years

Parenting support and consultations

Dr Power provides consultation to parents to help students meet their true potential within the educational system.

What is a psychological assessment?

Information is gathered regarding the student’s intellectual functioning, memory, attention, academic skills, executive functioning, emotional functioning and personality. If a student is struggling with learning or behavioural difficulties at school or does not appear to be meeting their true potential, an assessment will assist in gaining a better understanding of the underlying problems and make recommendations to address the problems.
