A psychological assesssment provides:

Information regarding the student’s intellectual functioning, memory, attention, academic skills, executive functioning, emotional functioning and personality. If a student is struggling with learning, attention or behavioural difficulties at school or at home, or does not appear to be meeting their true potential, an assessment will assist in gaining a better understanding of the underlying problems and make recommendations. In turn, the student’s school will provide academic accommodations.

A diagnosis may be provided in an assessment if diagnostic criteria are met. Consultation regarding working with the student and educational system and preparing for the Identification Placement Review Committee (IPRC) meeting is also available.
